Online MIDI Editors with Random Sound Generation – A New Way to Explore Hardware Synths

Over the past months, I’ve been working on a series of online MIDI editors for specific hardware synthesizers. The main idea behind these tools is simple:
make sound design faster, more playful, and more accessible – directly in the browser.

Each editor is tailored to a specific synth and exposes all relevant parameters in a clear graphical interface. Instead of diving through menus or remembering MIDI CC numbers, users can tweak sounds visually and hear the results instantly.

One of the key features is random sound generation. With a single click, the editor creates new patches by intelligently randomizing parameters. This is especially useful for inspiration, happy accidents, and breaking creative habits. In many editors, the randomization can be guided by sound types such as Bass, Lead, Pad, or Keys, so the results stay musically useful.

Another important aspect is preset sharing. Sounds can be saved on the server with a name and category, allowing other users to browse, load, and reuse them. Over time, this creates a small community-driven preset library that grows organically.

These tools are not meant to replace official editors or hardware workflows – they are meant to enhance creativity, lower technical barriers, and make sound design feel fun again.

More editors and features are already planned, including backup functions, style-based randomization, and expanded preset management.
Stay tuned – and happy tweaking 🎛️
